Food Festivals are Increasing in Popularity in Wales

Over the last 30-40 years, the culinary industry in the United Kingdom has altered dramatically. In recent years, the food festival scene in Wales has seen a significant transformation. Starting with just a few food festivals in Wales, they have grown into huge business and are now a must-attend event on many people’s culinary calendars.

The Abergavenny food festival is one of the most well-known culinary festivals in Wales. It began 14 years ago with only 2,500 people attending on a rainy Sunday and has grown to over 35,000 people, making it a strong favorite not only among chefs but also among local companies and traders. Local businesses see a significant rise in business as a result of the culinary festival.

Abergavenny Food Festival, Mold Food Festival, Conwy Feast, and Llangollen Food and Drink Festival are among the 15 food-related festivals in Wales. People are considerably more interested in local produce and supporting local food producers, according to the belief that a desire to know where our food comes from has increased demand for festivals like these.

As you go through the rows of artisan food vendors and inhale the fragrances of freshly prepared produce, whether it’s a sizzling hot chilli or a typical sticky toffee pudding, your senses are assaulted. All of these artisan food manufacturers know how to lure passers-by to sample some of their products.

Many people are refusing to accept the manufactured TV dinners that have been with us for so long, and are instead opting for locally made fresh food from suppliers such as those at the Abergavenny Food Festival.

This year’s food event featured over 200 producers from Wales, the Marches, and the surrounding area. Not only are there rows of exhibitors with cuisine to sample at the Abergavenny Food Festival, but there is something for everyone. Inside Abergavenny Castle, there are workshops for children and celebrity chef demos, as well as other activities. It’s a great pleasure for anyone with even a passing interest in food, and it’s well worth a visit. each September.

Finalists in the Ecat competition have been announced.

The Restaurant Show 2012 has announced the newly created Event Caterers Team Challenge (Ecats). The Ecats were created to bring together the greatest private event caterers from throughout the UK. In the delivery of corporate events, weddings, outdoor events, and private events, it pushes them to their boundaries.

On the 8th of October at Earls Court, Ecats will be in partnership with the Craft Guild of Chefs, and this event is expected to fill the competition theatre with excitement. The finalists are made up of groups of 4-5 people from the following institutions:

Red Anywhere
Fish Face Event Catering
CH&Co Catering Ltd
Sodexo Prestige
Purple Grape Catering
Richmond caterers

Ecats was created to honor the outstanding talents of event chefs in the catering industry. These exceptional chefs are frequently ignored because they do not have their own restaurant or hotel from which to display their work. The chefs have been tasked with preparing a full-fledged outside catering event. This event will provide the ideal platform for exceptional chefs to demonstrate their best skills to the rest of the business.

The following is the competition’s brief:

“A partner at a London city legal firm has contacted the catering company about throwing a surprise birthday party for his business partner, who will turn 50 on October 31st.” Because it’s Halloween, he’s decided to make it a black-tie masked Halloween ball, with 120 of their closest friends and business associates invited. The client wants a champagne reception with canapés [two hot and two cold], then a three-course meal with wine, coffee, and Petit Fours. A request for themed tables in keeping with the event has been made.

The client has arranged for the event to be held in a nearby stately home, which does not have any restrictions on which caterers can use the space. The client has also planned for entertainment following the lunch. A budget of around £250 per person has been set down for the event caterer’s fees.”

With the renowned medal at the end, the cooks are sure to show off all of their skills on the day. On finals day, all of the contenders will compete for the coveted award.
