When you think of holidays, what drink do you think of? Eggnog, of course! This delicious drink is hot and absolutely delicious! Invite your friends over, make yourself comfortable by the fire, and get ready to cook!
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 2 cups of whole milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1/2 to 1 1/2 cups bourbon, rum, brandy, or a mixture (optional)
- Freshly grated nutmeg for serving
- Mixing bowls
- Stand mixer
- Nutmeg grater
A. Separate the eggs by placing the yolks in a medium bowl and the whites in a large bowl. Cover the egg white and put it in the refrigerator until needed.
B. Add the sugar to the egg yolks and beat by hand or with a mixer until the mixture is smooth, creamy and slightly lemon yellow.
C. Add milk, cream, and liquor (if used).
D. Cover the bowl and put it in the refrigerator for at least one hour. And if you add a lot of liquor, it will keep for a longer period.
E. Just before serving, beat the egg whites in a planetary mixer or hand mixer at high speed until the egg whites form hard peaks.
F. Transfer the beaten egg whites to the bowl with the eggnog and carefully fold or mix the egg whites into the bottom; This gives the zabaglion a creamy and foamy consistency. Some proteins also float, like cappuccino foam.
G. Transfer the eggnog to a bowl or punch jug.
Serve in individual glasses with a nutmeg grater on top.
H. To enjoy!
